这首歌是美国抒情乡村歌手鲍勃.卡莱欧(Bob Carlisle)在他的女儿十六岁生日前夕，特别为女儿谱写的。卡莱欧在女儿生日前夕，突然惊觉女儿已经成长，不要再过多久，就即将就要远走高飞，离家去开创自己的人生。许多甜蜜的回忆，还有自己过去曾经错过、以及将来不会再拥有的机会，都浮现在他脑海，因此他萌生了这首歌的灵感。原本他并没有想要发表，只想把歌曲保留作送给女儿的礼物，但是在好友们的鼓励之下，才决定推出录音。本歌将一个父亲对女儿的爱写得感人致极。《旧金山纪事》报曾报导，有边开车边听此歌的听众把车子停到路边，泣不成声……
